Fear: Forget Everything and Run — Understanding Life Through Consciousness
"He will destroy the land of Egypt and execute death for death, captivity for captivity, and sword for sword." – Jeremiah 43:11
Life is consciousness. Consciousness is our awareness of God and our awareness of the good that God represents. The quality of life we experience is influenced by this consciousness, which manifests in different degrees and forms.
When Christ appears as life, that life becomes the light that lights every person coming into the world. What we are conscious of, what we are aware of, what we focus upon, and what we give our time, talent, treasure, and energy to all contribute to the reality we experience.
Jeremiah 43:11 reveals a sobering principle through the judgment coming upon Egypt. Egypt would experience death for death, captivity for captivity, and sword for sword. This illustrates the biblical principle of sowing and reaping: what is planted eventually produces a corresponding harvest.
We cannot cheat or fake consciousness. What lies within us eventually expresses itself through our lives and affairs. What a person consistently thinks, speaks, believes, and does reveals something about the consciousness underlying those actions.
1. Individual Consciousness — You
First, there is individual consciousness. Every person possesses an individual awareness of God and an individual way of perceiving life. Each person is a unique and unrepeatable expression of God.
The choices we make, the thoughts we entertain, the beliefs we cultivate, and the attitudes we maintain all influence our individual experience. The principle remains: we reap what we sow.
Our consciousness can influence the way we approach our health, relationships, finances, opportunities, challenges, and spiritual lives. This does not mean that every difficulty is caused by an individual's thoughts or that people should be blamed for circumstances beyond their control. Rather, it means that our inner awareness influences how we respond to life and what we consistently cultivate within ourselves.
When our individual consciousness is lifted through faith, love, wisdom, gratitude, and awareness of God's presence, we become better equipped to express those qualities in our daily lives.
2. Corporate Consciousness — Groups
Secondly, there is corporate consciousness. Every group develops a shared atmosphere or consciousness. This can happen within a home, workplace, school, neighborhood, church, community, or nation.
Individuals bring their personal consciousness into these corporate settings. As people communicate, cooperate, make decisions, vote, establish values, and give their collective voice, they contribute to the consciousness of the group.
Consequently, groups experience the results of their collective decisions and patterns. National leadership, for example, can reflect the values, priorities, expectations, and consciousness present within a nation at a particular time.
This is why expanding and elevating consciousness is vital. When individuals become more aware of God, love, truth, justice, responsibility, and the dignity of others, that awareness can influence the groups to which they belong.
If we desire better homes, better workplaces, better communities, and better nations, we must be willing to examine and elevate the consciousness we contribute to them.
3. Collective Consciousness — Earth
Thirdly, there is collective consciousness. This refers to the combined awareness, values, choices, and behaviors of humanity across the earth.
Many of the experiences humanity faces on earth are connected to collective human choices. Concerns involving the environment, pollution, waste, conservation, and care for the earth remind us that individual actions can contribute to a much larger reality.
From this perspective, humanity must learn to recognize that our choices are interconnected. What one person does may seem insignificant, but millions of individual choices can become a collective pattern.
Rather than viewing every difficult human experience simply as divine punishment, we can also recognize the consequences of human choices and collective patterns. God calls us toward wisdom, responsibility, love, and greater awareness.
When consciousness is elevated, our choices can become more loving, responsible, compassionate, and life-giving. As individuals change, groups can change. As groups change, collective patterns can change.
Do Not Let Fear Dictate Your Actions
Fear can dramatically influence consciousness. When fear becomes the dominant force in our awareness, it can cause us to make decisions from panic rather than wisdom, from anxiety rather than faith, and from limitation rather than possibility.
The familiar phrase FEAR — Forget Everything And Run captures one common response to fear. When fear takes over, we may forget what we know, forget who we are, forget God's presence, and run from the very circumstances that require courage and wisdom.
But faith calls us to another response. Faith does not mean pretending that problems do not exist. It means refusing to allow fear to become the master of our consciousness.
"Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." – 1 John 3:18
Our spiritual awareness must become more than words. It must become a way of living. Love must be expressed. Faith must be practiced. Wisdom must be demonstrated. Consciousness must produce corresponding action.
Life Is Consciousness
The challenge before us is to become intentional about the consciousness we cultivate. We are responsible for what we allow to occupy our minds, what we continually focus upon, and what we contribute to the environments and communities around us.
Individual consciousness is you. It begins with your thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, choices, and awareness of God.
Corporate consciousness is groups. It develops through the combined values, decisions, voices, and actions of people who share a common environment or purpose.
Collective consciousness is earth. It reflects the interconnected patterns of humanity and the consequences of our shared choices.
Therefore, let us consciously choose thoughts of faith rather than fear, love rather than hatred, wisdom rather than confusion, and hope rather than despair. Let us raise our awareness of God's presence and allow that awareness to influence our lives, our groups, and the world around us.
Life is consciousness. What consciousness are you cultivating today?
📖 Reflection: What thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes are currently shaping your individual consciousness, and are they moving you toward faith, love, wisdom, and greater awareness of God?
💡 Action Step: Identify one fear that has been influencing your decisions. Bring it consciously before God today, replace it with a faith-filled truth, and take one loving, wise action instead of allowing fear to dictate your response.
