Baptism into Christ unites us, dissolving the worldly labels that divide and diminish our connection to one another. In that sacred union, we shed the false identifiers society has placed upon us. These labels race, gender, social status are not who we truly are. They shift with time and culture. For example, Black people have been called Negro, Afro-American, African American, and people of color. These terms keep evolving because they are just that terms , not truths. Paul urges us to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. That unity is constantly threatened by the “fake IDs”...
