  The Ministry of Reconciliation: Embracing Our Divine Responsibility Through Christ “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:18 Reconciliation — that’s our word for today. I am a recipient of reconciliation. The purpose of Jesus is to reconcile us back to God. You can’t reconcile a couple that was never together, but a couple who were once united and then separated can indeed be reconciled. Jesus is like a marriage counselor — a divine therapist who fully understands both the divine (God) and the human (us). We once lived in our own Garden of Eden: free, joyful, in harmony with God and each other. But we could not restore that broken relationship on our own. While God kept reaching out, we hid.
