Righteousness: Right Consciousness and Living in Alignment With God

  Righteousness: Right Consciousness – Isaiah 64:6     What does it mean to be righteous? Righteousness is often understood as being morally perfect or doing everything correctly. But righteousness is much deeper than simply following a list of rules. Righteousness can be understood as right + consciousness  the awareness and development of a right consciousness that is aligned with God. "We have become like one who is unclean, and our righteousness is like filthy rags. We shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind, our sins sweep us away." – Isaiah 64:6    Righteousness does not mean being flawless. It means becoming increasingly aware of our thoughts, words, reactions, and actions and taking responsibility when they are not the highest and the best.
