Breathe Consciously: Glory, Honor, and Praise Through Every Breath

"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!" – Psalm 150:6 KSB

When people breathe consciously, they become more aware of the gift of life and their connection to God. Psalm 150:6 declares, "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." Every breath becomes an invitation to give God glory, honor, and praise.

Breathing happens continuously, whether people are conscious of it or not. The lungs expand and contract, allowing the body to receive oxygen and release carbon dioxide. Yet beyond the physical process is an opportunity for spiritual awareness. When individuals become conscious of their breathing, they can use that natural rhythm as a reminder of God's presence and the sacred gift of life.

Scripture teaches that God formed humanity from the dust of the ground and breathed into humanity the breath of life. Humanity became living souls. Conscious breathing therefore provides a beautiful opportunity to pause, become still, and recognize that life itself is a gift.

Firstly: Conscious Breathing Brings Glory to God

Conscious breathing brings glory to God by helping individuals become aware of the divine presence within and around them. Instead of allowing the mind to remain distracted by circumstances, people can pause and pay attention to the simple miracle of breathing.

With each inhalation and exhalation, individuals can become more conscious of the presence of God. This awareness transforms an ordinary biological function into a spiritual reminder. The breath says, "I AM alive, and God is present."

When thoughts are intentionally aligned with God's presence, people can move through the day with greater awareness, gratitude, and purpose. Conscious breathing becomes a way of remembering who they are and reflecting God's light through their thoughts, words, and actions.

Secondly: Conscious Breathing Offers Honor to God

Conscious breathing also offers honor to God through gratitude. Every breath is a reminder that life is not something to take for granted. The ability to inhale, exhale, speak, move, think, love, and experience life is a profound gift.

Breath also reminds humanity of its connection to the rest of creation. Fish swim in the sea, birds move through the air, animals walk upon the earth, and every living creature participates in the ongoing rhythm of life. As Psalm 150:6 declares, everything that has breath is invited to praise the Lord.

When individuals honor their breath, they can also develop a greater appreciation for the life surrounding them. Gratitude expands beyond the self and becomes recognition of the interconnectedness of creation and the One who gives life.

Thirdly: Conscious Breathing Is an Act of Praise

Conscious breathing becomes an act of praise when awareness is translated into action. Praise is not limited to what people say or sing. Praise can also be demonstrated through how people live and how they treat God's creation.

Humanity has been given dominion and responsibility over the earth and its creatures. Therefore, thoughts, words, and actions that reflect love, compassion, stewardship, and respect can become expressions of praise.

When individuals consciously choose what is highest and best, they participate in a greater expression of worship. The way people treat other people, animals, the environment, and themselves can become an outward demonstration of the inward awareness that God is present.

The Breath Connects Us to Creation

The natural world continually demonstrates the interconnectedness of life. Plants and trees contribute oxygen to the atmosphere, supporting people, animals, and countless other living organisms. The air moves through the environment, connecting one part of creation with another.

This beautiful cycle can remind us that we are not isolated beings. We exist within a larger creation, sustained by systems and relationships that extend far beyond our individual lives. Conscious breathing can therefore become an invitation to recognize unity, gratitude, and responsibility.

Every breath can become a moment of remembrance: I AM connected to God, connected to life, and called to express the highest and the best.

Conclusion

Conscious breathing is a simple practice that can transform awareness. By becoming conscious of the breath, individuals can intentionally remember God's presence, give glory to God, express gratitude, and live with greater appreciation for all creation.

Every inhalation and exhalation is another opportunity to pause and remember that life is a gift. Let your breath remind you of God's presence. Let your gratitude become honor. Let your actions become praise.

Today, take a moment to breathe consciously. Slow down. Become still. Take a deep breath and give thanks. With every breath, remember that I AM is present, life is a gift, and everything that has breath has a reason to praise the Lord.

📖 Reflection: What would change in your daily life if every breath became a conscious reminder of God's presence and an opportunity to give thanks?

💡 Action Step: Set aside a few moments today to breathe slowly and consciously. With each breath, silently say, "Thank You, God." Allow this practice to cultivate gratitude, peace, and awareness of God's presence.

Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? The Sacred Sunday Posture:  Kneeling “ A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees; if you are willing, you can make me clean (Mark 1:40).” In addition to bowing your heads and closing your eyes, many people learn to “get on your knees and pray.” Often, it’s at night before going to sleep. Parents instruct their children to kneel on the side of the bed and say their prayers. Perhaps you have fond memories of kneeling and reciting the Lord’s Prayer or the 23 rd Psalm. Or maybe you were taught, like me, “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord, my soul, to take. God bless mommy, daddy...” Kneeling is a physical way to revere God as your Creator and remember that God is your Source. “Know that it is the Lord, who is God. It is he that has made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3).” Without reverencing and ...

Hidden Treasure: You Are a Vessel, Not Just an Instrument

I AM Not an Instrument. I AM a Vessel “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KSB) Hidden in Plain Sight The image that Paul presents in 2 Corinthians 4 is that of a treasure hidden within an earthen vessel. In the Old Testament, people didn’t have locks, alarm systems, or cameras to protect their valuables. Instead, their belongings were often left exposed, making them vulnerable to thieves and robbers. To safeguard their most valuable treasures, they would hide them in jars of clay—earthen vessels—placing them in plain sight. A thief or robber would never think to look there because it wasn’t an obvious hiding place. Likewise, God has placed something valuable inside of you—a treasure of great worth. Yet, people often fail to see it. You may be right in front of them, but they don’t recognize your gifts, skills, talents, anointing, abilities, or sensitivities. You are hidden in plain sight bec...
