Prosperity Is Not a Dirty Word

"Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers." – 3 John 1:2

This scripture reveals God’s desire for us to live in prosperity and health, reflecting the wellbeing of our souls. Prosperity here is not limited to material wealth but encompasses a holistic state including health, harmonious relationships, and spiritual wellbeing.

Introduction to Prosperity and Divine Provision

Prosperity is often misunderstood as merely material wealth or, worse, regarded negatively. However, true prosperity aligns with God’s desire for us to live abundantly. It involves physical health, relational harmony, and financial stability,  all reflections of the soul’s condition. When the soul prospers, when our thoughts, emotions, and will are in divine order every area of life follows suit.

Many people struggle because they focus only on external challenges physical symptoms, financial lack, or relational conflict without addressing inner beliefs that limit their experience of God’s abundance. Prosperity begins in the soul; it is a consciousness of divine sufficiency. Without that inner renewal, true prosperity cannot fully manifest.

A practical way to cultivate prosperous consciousness is through a threefold spiritual system: Scripture, Denial, and Affirmation. Begin with the truth of God’s Word, deny limiting beliefs and false perceptions, and affirm divine principles of abundance. This process transforms subconscious thought patterns and opens the door to divine provision.

Firstly, Wealth Is Not Wickedness

A common limiting belief is that wealth is gained through unethical means. This association can subconsciously block people from receiving or maintaining financial blessings. We must release the notion that wealth equates to wrongdoing.

"Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever." – Psalm 112:3

Instead, wealth should be seen as a manifestation of wisdom and worth. It reflects the application of godly principles and the value God places on His children. The denial to affirm here is: Wealth is not wickedness. The affirmation is: Wealth is wisdom and worth. This mindset allows believers to manifest wealth with integrity and purpose.

Secondly, Riches Are Not Riotous Living

Another misconception is that riches inevitably lead to reckless or immoral living. This fear keeps many from embracing abundance, equating prosperity with moral compromise or lack of self-control.

"Wealth and riches are in the house of the righteous." – Psalm 112:3

In truth, riches belong to the righteous, those who live in alignment with God’s principles. Wealth flows naturally from stewardship, integrity, and divine wisdom. The denial is: Riches do not produce riotous living. The affirmation is: Riches are expressions of righteousness and responsible stewardship. Wealth is a resource to bless others, fund ministry, and advance God’s purposes on earth.

Thirdly, Money Is Not Materialism

Many believers shy away from financial success out of fear of becoming materialistic. However, money itself is neutral it is a tool, a form of divine provision in tangible expression. The issue is not money, but the love of money, which leads to imbalance.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." – Matthew 6:33

The denial is: Money is not materialism. The affirmation is: Money is a manifestation of God’s physical substance and a tool for divine purpose. When we see money as a servant, not a master, we are free to receive it, manage it wisely, and use it to bless others.

Conclusion

Prosperity is not a dirty word, it is a divine principle that reflects a prospering soul. To walk in true abundance, we must renew our minds with God’s truth:

  • Release the belief that wealth is wicked, embrace it as wisdom and worth.
  • Deny that riches lead to riotous living, affirm that riches belong to the righteous.
  • Reject the idea that money is materialism, see it as a divine resource for good.

Through Scripture, denial, and affirmation, we align our inner life with God’s abundance. As our souls prosper, our health, relationships, and finances follow. God’s will is that we prosper and be in health, even as our souls prosper. Prosperity, rightly understood, glorifies God by manifesting His goodness on earth.

📖 Reflection: What limiting beliefs about money or prosperity might be holding you back from receiving God’s best?

💡 Action Step: Choose one false belief to deny today, and replace it with a faith-filled affirmation from God’s Word.

Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? The Sacred Sunday Posture:  Kneeling “ A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees; if you are willing, you can make me clean (Mark 1:40).” In addition to bowing your heads and closing your eyes, many people learn to “get on your knees and pray.” Often, it’s at night before going to sleep. Parents instruct their children to kneel on the side of the bed and say their prayers. Perhaps you have fond memories of kneeling and reciting the Lord’s Prayer or the 23 rd Psalm. Or maybe you were taught, like me, “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord, my soul, to take. God bless mommy, daddy...” Kneeling is a physical way to revere God as your Creator and remember that God is your Source. “Know that it is the Lord, who is God. It is he that has made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3).” Without reverencing and ...

Where Is the Love? Learning to Recognize God's Presence Through Galatians 5

Where Is the Love?    One of my favorite duets is by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack: "Where Is the Love?" It asks, "Where is the love that you said you would give to me?" It's a timeless question and one that’s just as spiritually relevant today.    In Galatians 5 , Paul writes to the churches in Galatia about the contrast between the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. He helps believers understand how to discern what’s truly of God. And here's the spiritual compass: love is God's signature . "And envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."   Galatians 5:21 (KSB)    Whatever you do whether it’s cooking a meal or making a major decision ask yourself: "Where is the love?" Is love your motive? Is love present in your tone, your actions, your intentions?  Paul’s letter urges us to determine whether we are operati...
