There’s Only One: Embracing the Power of Divine Oneness

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." – Deuteronomy 6:4

Open Bible highlighting the scripture declaring the Lord is one

The Book of Deuteronomy, meaning the “second law,” serves as the fifth book of the Pentateucht, he fivefold vessel of divine instruction. In this sacred text, Moses delivers a profound monologue, sharing the wisdom, experiences, and revelations gained throughout the journey of leading the children of Israel.

Previous reflections throughout Deuteronomy chapters one through three emphasized the transition away from wandering in circles. The number 40 symbolized consecration, preparation, and the continual demonstration of God’s provision and care. As the narrative progresses into chapters four, five, and six, Moses revisits the Ten Commandments and the statutes of the law, emphasizing the spiritual principles that distinguished Israel from surrounding nations.

Moses instructed the people to teach these divine truths to their children, write them upon their doorposts, place them upon their walls, and wear them continually as reminders of God’s promises. At the heart of this instruction is a foundational truth: absolute oneness with God and all life.

Firstly: There Is Only One God

The declaration found in Deuteronomy 6:4 establishes one of the most powerful spiritual truths in Scripture: God is one. In surrounding cultures, many nations practiced polytheism, creating separate gods for the sun, moon, fertility, war, and prosperity. However, the true spiritual path recognizes only one supreme presence and power in the universe.

Many people unknowingly adopt dualistic thinking by believing that opposing forces possess equal power. Yet Scripture reminds believers that there is only one ultimate authority, and that authority is God. God is entirely good and functions as the very essence of life itself. God exists above, beneath, beside, within, and beyond all things.

Whether life presents blessings or difficult lessons, all experiences ultimately work together within the divine order of God. Spiritual alignment requires releasing dependence upon modern idols such as possessions, status, pride, fear, or intellectual superiority and returning to the awareness of one Creator expressing through all creation.

Secondly: One Love

Deuteronomy teaches believers to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. This command reveals that true love has one singular source: God. When individuals devote every aspect of themselves to loving God, that divine love overflows into every relationship and every area of life.

God is love itself, and humanity discovers the authentic meaning of love by remaining anchored in divine presence. This sacred love naturally produces healthy self-worth and a genuine capacity to love others. Whether expressed through friendship, family, compassion, or romance, every authentic form of love originates from the same divine essence.

A heart filled completely with God’s love leaves no room for bitterness, resentment, jealousy, hatred, or malice. This spiritual wholeness empowers individuals to bless even those who oppose them because their actions flow from an inexhaustible source of grace and compassion.

Thirdly: One People

Humanity is one family united under one Creator. Although people may differ in culture, age, gender, nationality, background, or social status, every individual shares the same spiritual identity as a creation made in the image and likeness of God.

Recognizing humanity as one people dissolves the illusion of separation. Every action taken toward another person ultimately affects the collective whole. Scripture calls believers to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace, acknowledging one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God who is above all, through all, and within all.

When individuals move beyond division, judgment, and separation, they begin to embody the consciousness of divine unity. This awareness produces compassion, empathy, peace, and mutual respect across all human relationships.

Conclusion

Deuteronomy chapters four through six call believers into the complete dismantling of separation consciousness. Recognizing that God is one leads to the understanding that humanity is never disconnected from the Source of all good. Every aspect of life exists within divine unity and functions together according to God’s higher purpose.

Living with the awareness of oneness transforms how individuals think, love, forgive, serve, and relate to the world around them. In this sacred awareness, believers can boldly affirm:

"I AM one with God. I AM one with all life. I AM one with the One, because there is only one."

📖 Reflection: In what areas of your life have you unknowingly embraced separation instead of unity with God and others?

💡 Action Step: Spend time this week intentionally practicing unity through prayer, forgiveness, compassion, and acts of love toward yourself and others.

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   Galatians 5:6 (KSB)    With everything going on around us, it's easy to feel lost. Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self?   Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! Universe Means One Thing: Love

Universe Means One Thing: Love "For all the law is fulfilled in this one word, love: Love your neighbor as yourself."   Galatians 5:14 (KSB)    Sometimes, the word “universe” can feel mysterious even spooky to some. Others think it's irreverent or sacrilegious when used in spiritual conversations. But what if we redefined it? What if “universe” simply meant love? What if it meant God, since God is love?  When we say, “the universe,” we can think of it as pointing to one word love. Just one word. The entire Bible, composed of 66 books and written by over 40 different authors, ultimately speaks to one central theme: love. From beginning to end, this divine book points us toward loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others.  In the Old Testament, God's people had 636 laws civil, ceremonial, and moral. They guided everything from relationships to religious festivals. But then Jesus came and said, “Let me make this simple Love God. Love yourself. L...
