My Altar – Part 4: The Pyramid Prayer for Spiritual Alignment and Kingdom Living

"Beloved, now we are offspring of God, and what we will be has not yet been fully revealed. But we know that when Christ Jesus appears, we will be just like him and we will see him as he is." – 1 John 3:2

As children of God, we are continually growing into a greater awareness of who we truly are. The Apostle John reminds us that our full spiritual identity has not yet been completely revealed, yet we can live each day in alignment with the divine nature already within us. One practical tool for maintaining that alignment is the Pyramid Prayer.

The Pyramid Prayer serves as a continuous mental and spiritual alignment system designed to help individuals navigate seasons of chaos, confusion, stress, or competition. More than a prayer, it functions as a personal altar built within consciousness. Each level of the pyramid represents an area of life that can be examined, strengthened, and aligned with divine truth.

By intentionally moving through each layer, individuals reinforce their true identity, purpose, and inheritance as offspring of God. The process provides a practical roadmap for evaluating spiritual health while cultivating balance from the foundation of personal spirituality to the broader impact of community leadership.

Firstly: Spiritual Being (The Foundation)

Every strong structure begins with a solid foundation. The first level of the Pyramid Prayer focuses on spiritual identity. It asks the essential question: Who am I beyond my circumstances, roles, and experiences?

This level reminds us that we are spiritual beings created in the image and likeness of God. Spiritual growth is not merely about hearing truth but consistently living it. When love seems absent, this foundation becomes the place of return.

   Affirmation:
“I AM lovingly living all the truth that I know.”

This affirmation encourages believers to practice kingdom principles, prayer, prosperity, and spiritual disciplines from a place of love rather than obligation. It acknowledges personal responsibility for embodying divine truth in everyday life.

Secondly: Individual

The second layer focuses on the individualized expression of the spiritual self. Happiness is viewed as a divine inheritance rather than a temporary emotion dependent upon external circumstances.

When happiness is missing, it often indicates that some area of life has fallen out of balance. The Pyramid Prayer encourages individuals to evaluate their habits, routines, and overall well-being to restore harmony.

   Affirmation:
“I AM happy about my holistically healthy, balanced, and well-rounded life.”

This level emphasizes the importance of nurturing mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness as an integrated whole.

Thirdly: Relationships

Healthy relationships begin with acceptance. This level addresses one-on-one interactions with spouses, family members, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and fellow believers.

Rather than assigning blame when conflict arises, the Pyramid Prayer encourages honest self-examination. Relational harmony grows when individuals embrace both themselves and others without masks, manipulation, or unrealistic expectations.

   Affirmation:
“I AM completely accepting of myself and others, and I enjoy mutually beneficial and fulfilling experiences wherever I AM, especially where I live.”

This affirmation cultivates compassion, understanding, and authentic connection.

Fourthly: Life Work

Life work extends beyond employment. It encompasses the unique calling, gifts, and contributions that God has placed within each individual. True purpose energizes rather than depletes.

When people function within their divine assignment, they often experience a sense of inspiration, fulfillment, and joy. Their work becomes an extension of their spiritual mission.

   Affirmation:
“I AM inspired and exhilarated as I encourage and support others on their love journey, their wholeness path, and their kingdom voyage.”

This level invites individuals to ask a powerful question: How have I encouraged, uplifted, or supported someone today?

Fifthly: Community (The Pinnacle)

The final point of the pyramid expands beyond personal relationships into the larger community. Whether serving as a leader, mentor, teacher, minister, or active participant, every individual contributes to the collective spiritual atmosphere.

Joy at this level comes from witnessing others discover their divine potential and awaken to the Christ light within themselves.

   Affirmation:
“I AM filled with overflowing love and joy as I consciously lead communities who discover and develop the Christ light in themselves and in others.”

The pinnacle reminds us that spiritual growth is never meant to remain isolated. It is designed to bless and elevate entire communities.

Conclusion

The Pyramid Prayer provides a practical and deeply personal framework for daily reflection, growth, and spiritual alignment. By intentionally moving from the foundation of spiritual identity to the pinnacle of community influence, individuals develop greater awareness of their thoughts, relationships, purpose, and impact.

Rather than blaming external circumstances for internal dissatisfaction, the Pyramid Prayer offers a spiritual diagnostic tool. When love is missing, return to spiritual truth. When happiness fades, restore personal balance. When relationships struggle, practice acceptance. When purpose feels unclear, seek opportunities to inspire and serve.

Ultimately, the Pyramid Prayer transforms believers from hearers of spiritual principles into active practitioners of kingdom living. Built upon the solid foundation of divine identity, it becomes a daily altar where the mind, heart, and spirit align more fully with the image of Christ.

Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? The Sacred Sunday Posture:  Kneeling “ A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees; if you are willing, you can make me clean (Mark 1:40).” In addition to bowing your heads and closing your eyes, many people learn to “get on your knees and pray.” Often, it’s at night before going to sleep. Parents instruct their children to kneel on the side of the bed and say their prayers. Perhaps you have fond memories of kneeling and reciting the Lord’s Prayer or the 23 rd Psalm. Or maybe you were taught, like me, “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord, my soul, to take. God bless mommy, daddy...” Kneeling is a physical way to revere God as your Creator and remember that God is your Source. “Know that it is the Lord, who is God. It is he that has made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3).” Without reverencing and ...

Where Is the Love? Learning to Recognize God's Presence Through Galatians 5

Where Is the Love?    One of my favorite duets is by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack: "Where Is the Love?" It asks, "Where is the love that you said you would give to me?" It's a timeless question and one that’s just as spiritually relevant today.    In Galatians 5 , Paul writes to the churches in Galatia about the contrast between the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. He helps believers understand how to discern what’s truly of God. And here's the spiritual compass: love is God's signature . "And envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."   Galatians 5:21 (KSB)    Whatever you do whether it’s cooking a meal or making a major decision ask yourself: "Where is the love?" Is love your motive? Is love present in your tone, your actions, your intentions?  Paul’s letter urges us to determine whether we are operati...
