I AM One Person with Two Natures: Renewing the Mind

I AM One Person with Two Natures

Human and divine nature balance illustration showing spiritual and earthly identity

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
– Romans 12:2

Humanity exists as one person possessing two distinct natures. Just as a human being requires 23 chromosomes from a mother and 23 from a father to form one complete individual, so too does the spiritual being draw from two sources. Humanity is formed from the dust of the earth, receiving a physical nature, while also receiving a spiritual nature from God. From dust we came, and to dust we return, yet through the breath of life, we become living souls.

First, every individual is fully human. This nature is derived from the earth and encompasses the entirety of the human experience emotions, growth, challenges, and development. To be human is to live, to feel, and to grow. God understands our frame and remembers that it is made of dust. This earthly reality is not a weakness, but a vital part of who we are.

Second, every individual is also fully divine. This is not partial or limited, we are partakers of the divine nature of God. Being made in God’s image and likeness means that our spiritual identity reflects His fullness. When God breathed life into humanity, He imparted His Spirit, making us living souls. Therefore, we are not half human and half divine, we are fully both.

Third, there is often an internal warfare between these two natures. The human side may feel limited, while the divine side calls us higher to manifest love, peace, miracles, and the fruit of the Spirit. Even after releasing negative thoughts and behaviors, this inner tension can remain. Yet victory is possible by following the example of Christ, who perfectly demonstrated how to embody both the human and the divine.

The key to overcoming this conflict is the renewing of the mind. As we align our thoughts with divine truth, we begin to express our higher nature more consistently. The mind of Christ within us empowers us to rise above limitation and walk in spiritual authority.

In conclusion, the goal is to find harmony between these two natures. By honoring both our spiritual identity and our human experience, we become whole. As we allow the I AM presence the indwelling Spirit of God to guide us, we navigate life with wisdom, grace, and power. Through the continual renewing of the mind, we manifest our divine nature while fully embracing our human journey.

📖 Reflection: In what areas of your life are you leaning more into your human nature than your divine nature?

💡 Action Step: Take time today to renew your mind by affirming: “I am fully human and fully divine, guided by the Spirit of God within me.”

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   Galatians 5:6 (KSB)    With everything going on around us, it's easy to feel lost. Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self? If you don’t know what you stand on, what can you stand up on after a fall?    Clarity of purpose keeps you ...
Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? So God can get the...

There’s a Grace on Your Life

There’s a Grace on Your Life "By grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."    Ephesians 2:8 (KSB)    In Ephesians chapter 2, one word stands out repeatedly: grace . But what is grace? Grace is God’s unmerited favor, His love poured out on us, not based on anything we've done or failed to do. It’s not about what we think or don’t think. It’s simply a gift. A beautiful, divine surprise.  Imagine receiving an unexpected bonus at work, you did your job, and suddenly you're given more than you earned. That’s grace. It comes when you least expect it and fills you with joy and wonder. This is how God extends His grace freely, abundantly, and lovingly.  Throughout Ephesians 2, Paul highlights how grace is woven into our salvation. “By grace you are saved” means you didn’t do it yourself. Salvation is the awakening in your spirit to the truth that  you are God's beloved .   ...
