A Personal Kingdom
"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." – Luke 12:32
The words of Jesus in Luke 12:32 offer a powerful assurance: God delights in giving the Kingdom to His people. Yet many believers live as though the kingdom is distant or reserved for the future. The truth is that the kingdom is already given, it simply must be received and realized.
Personalizing the Kingdom is the intentional process of receiving what God has already provided. It moves faith from general ideas into personal ownership. Instead of viewing the kingdom as an abstract concept, believers learn to recognize it as an internal, inexhaustible source of divine potential, wisdom, and spiritual power.
Core Principles of Personalization
Firstly: Using Personal Pronouns (Me, My, and Mine)
One of the most effective ways to personalize the kingdom is by intentionally using the words “me,” “my,” and “mine.” Rather than seeing the kingdom as something distant, the believer affirms: “The kingdom is mine. It belongs to me.” By applying these pronouns to God’s promises, principles, and practices, spiritual truth becomes a personal reality rather than a distant doctrine.
Secondly: The Power of “I Am” and Present Tense
Personalizing the kingdom requires bringing spiritual truth into the present moment through the powerful phrase “I am.” These words affirm the identity of the spiritual self created in God’s image. Following the example of Jesus and His many “I am” statements, believers are encouraged to declare their present spiritual reality: “I am healed. I am healthy. I am whole.”
These affirmations keep the believer rooted in the right here and right now, shifting their mindset away from past limitations or future hopes and into a present experience of the kingdom.
Thirdly: The Practice of Depersonalization
Another important aspect of personalizing the kingdom is learning to depersonalize anything that does not align with kingdom truth. Conditions such as sickness, lack, or negativity should not be claimed with personal pronouns. Instead of saying “my illness,” believers are encouraged to say “the illness.”
This shift prevents the mind from forming a sense of unity with negative conditions and reinforces the understanding that such experiences are temporary and not part of one’s true spiritual identity.
Fourthly: Inserting Your Name into Scripture
A powerful method of personalization is placing your own name directly into scripture. For example, when reading the description of love in 1 Corinthians 13, replace the word “love” with your name: “David Pulley is patient. David Pulley is kind.”
This practice helps the believer internalize the Word of God and apply it personally. Scripture is no longer viewed as a distant message to the world but as a direct guide for one’s own character and conduct.
Fifthly: Recognizing Divine Identity and Unlimited Potential
The final stage of personalization is recognizing that the kingdom within is a source of divine unlimited potential and inexhaustible good. It is the spiritual force that makes the impossible possible.
By acknowledging that our identity flows from God the great “I AM” we begin to realize that the same divine life that empowered Jesus is available within us as well.
Conclusion
Personalizing the kingdom is not merely a linguistic exercise; it is a spiritual necessity. While God has already given the kingdom, it must be consciously received and embraced.
Through the consistent use of personal pronouns, present-tense affirmations, the depersonalization of negative conditions, and the intentional application of scripture, believers move from a vague understanding of faith into a living experience of God’s kingdom within.
When this happens, the kingdom is no longer a distant promise, it becomes a personal reality that transforms everyday life.
📖 Reflection: In what areas of your life can you begin to personalize God’s promises and declare the kingdom as your present reality?
💡 Action Step: Choose one scripture promise today and insert your name into it. Speak it aloud as a personal affirmation and meditate on it throughout the day.
