When a Season Expires: Recognizing When It’s Time for Your Exodus

When a Season Expires: Recognizing When It’s Time for Your Exodus

"Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph." – Exodus 1:8 (KSB)

Egypt was not inherently a negative place. In the beginning, it served as a divine placement for the nation of Israel. During a time of famine in the promised land, Egypt became a refuge where the people were restored, nourished, and clothed. God is present in every location, and thus Egypt was initially a site of favor, provision, and expansion. The story of Israel in Egypt does not begin with bondage, it begins with prosperity and growth.

This truth reveals something powerful: a person can be exactly where they are meant to be, yet still encounter difficulty if they remain past the expiration date of a season. Entering a relationship, career, or assignment may be divinely guided, but staying too long can transform a blessing into a burden.

In its earliest phase, Egypt functioned as an oasis and sanctuary. Under a Pharaoh who honored Joseph, Israel flourished. They multiplied, prospered, and experienced favor. This season reflects how aligned leadership and consciousness can create an environment where everyone benefits. Many beginnings in life feel this way like a safe space where we are revived while navigating famine elsewhere.

However, when leadership changed, the entire atmosphere shifted. A new Pharaoh arose who did not know Joseph, and with that shift came a change in consciousness. No environment can rise above the awareness of its leadership. What once brought joy and peace slowly became a place of discomfort. The blessing began to feel heavy because the season had expired.

When individuals remain in spaces no longer aligned with their growth, the weight of that environment begins to press upon them. What was once life-giving becomes draining. This is often a signal that the environment can no longer support the freedom and expansion of the soul.

Eventually, the situation moved from burden to bondage. Fear drove the new leadership to impose restrictions and taskmasters upon the people. Bondage is often rooted in fear, fear of change, fear of loss, or fear of losing control. When a person must suppress their authentic self or live under constant pressure and anxiety, they are no longer in a place of divine alignment.

The Spirit of God brings liberty, not limitation. Anything that confines, oppresses, or diminishes your sense of peace is not aligned with your highest good. True spiritual environments allow you to grow, expand, and express your authentic self freely.

It is essential to become aware of expiration dates in every area of life relationships, careers, and even spiritual assignments. Wisdom invites us to ask: Is this still a blessing, or has it become a burden? When the grace for a season lifts, it may be time for an Exodus.

Recognizing misalignment is not failure; it is growth. By standing firm in liberty, you can release what once served you and move forward into what is next. In doing so, you honor the divine flow of your life and ensure you do not remain stuck in a season that has already ended.

I AM is the source of your freedom, your guidance, and your next step. Trust that inner knowing, and move when it is time.

đŸ“– Reflection: Where in your life might you be staying beyond the expiration of a season?

đŸ’¡ Action Step: Take time in prayer or meditation this week and ask for clarity about any area where it may be time to move forward.

Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? So God can get the...
The Sacred Sunday Posture:  Kneeling “ A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees; if you are willing, you can make me clean (Mark 1:40).” In addition to bowing your heads and closing your eyes, many people learn to “get on your knees and pray.” Often, it’s at night before going to sleep. Parents instruct their children to kneel on the side of the bed and say their prayers. Perhaps you have fond memories of kneeling and reciting the Lord’s Prayer or the 23 rd Psalm. Or maybe you were taught, like me, “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord, my soul, to take. God bless mommy, daddy...” Kneeling is a physical way to revere God as your Creator and remember that God is your Source. “Know that it is the Lord, who is God. It is he that has made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3).” Without reverencing and ...

Where Is the Love? Learning to Recognize God's Presence Through Galatians 5

Where Is the Love?    One of my favorite duets is by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack: "Where Is the Love?" It asks, "Where is the love that you said you would give to me?" It's a timeless question and one that’s just as spiritually relevant today.    In Galatians 5 , Paul writes to the churches in Galatia about the contrast between the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. He helps believers understand how to discern what’s truly of God. And here's the spiritual compass: love is God's signature . "And envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."   Galatians 5:21 (KSB)    Whatever you do whether it’s cooking a meal or making a major decision ask yourself: "Where is the love?" Is love your motive? Is love present in your tone, your actions, your intentions?  Paul’s letter urges us to determine whether we are operati...
