Judgment or Lessons? Discovering God as Teacher Through Life’s Experiences

"Though He were a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered." – Hebrews 5:8

The question before us is profound: Are the experiences of life judgments, or are they lessons? Many traditions have portrayed God as a punitive force, one who punishes and condemns. However, from a Kingdom perspective, God is revealed not as a judge, but as a divine teacher. Through every experience, life becomes a classroom where the soul is invited to grow, evolve, and express its highest and best self.

Perception creates experience. The way God is perceived shapes how individuals see themselves and others. When God is viewed as a harsh judge, people often become overly critical, extending little grace to themselves. This inner criticism frequently spills outward, manifesting as judgment, gossip, and harshness toward others. Yet, when God is seen as a loving teacher, something shifts. Patience replaces pressure, and growth becomes possible without condemnation.

Just as a compassionate teacher nurtures a student’s development with kindness and wisdom, God lovingly guides each soul toward its divine potential. God is not interested in condemnation but in transformation.

First, the choice is yours. You may see God as a punisher or as a teacher. This choice directly shapes your thinking (thoughts) and theology (words). When God is embraced as a teacher, even correction is received as love. The focus shifts away from fear and “wrath” and toward a divine partnership in learning. In this awareness, you can observe your life with grace, allowing yourself to grow as new understanding unfolds.

Second, choosing teaching over judgment transforms your actions. When judgment is released, your treatment of yourself and others changes. This shift often leads to greater peace, improved health, more harmonious relationships, and even increased prosperity. The soul calls forth experiences for growth, and when criticism is replaced with compassion, healing naturally follows.

Third, every experience carries a blessing. Every person and every situation regardless of how it appears enters your life to teach and to bless. Even difficult encounters and perceived enemies play a role in the unfolding of your soul. When you choose the lesson over the judgment, you release guilt and shame, recognizing that all things are working together for your good.

God, the ultimate teacher, never runs out of grace. If a lesson is not learned the first time, it may return in another form not as punishment, but as mercy. Just as in any classroom, lessons repeat until understanding is achieved. And when understanding comes, the lesson is complete.

Release the need to condemn yourself for past actions. Instead, embrace what you have learned. Trust that every step every success and every challenge is guiding you toward your highest self. When the student is ready, the teacher appears. When the lesson is learned, the class is over.

Embrace the I AM within you and trust the divine process. Your life is not a series of punishments, it is a sacred journey of becoming.

📖 Reflection: Are you viewing your current life challenges as punishment, or can you begin to see them as divine lessons for your growth?

💡 Action Step: Identify one recent challenge and write down what it may be teaching you. Choose to respond with grace instead of judgment.

Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? So God can get the...
The Sacred Sunday Posture:  Kneeling “ A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees; if you are willing, you can make me clean (Mark 1:40).” In addition to bowing your heads and closing your eyes, many people learn to “get on your knees and pray.” Often, it’s at night before going to sleep. Parents instruct their children to kneel on the side of the bed and say their prayers. Perhaps you have fond memories of kneeling and reciting the Lord’s Prayer or the 23 rd Psalm. Or maybe you were taught, like me, “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord, my soul, to take. God bless mommy, daddy...” Kneeling is a physical way to revere God as your Creator and remember that God is your Source. “Know that it is the Lord, who is God. It is he that has made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3).” Without reverencing and ...

Hidden Treasure: You Are a Vessel, Not Just an Instrument

I AM Not an Instrument. I AM a Vessel “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KSB) Hidden in Plain Sight The image that Paul presents in 2 Corinthians 4 is that of a treasure hidden within an earthen vessel. In the Old Testament, people didn’t have locks, alarm systems, or cameras to protect their valuables. Instead, their belongings were often left exposed, making them vulnerable to thieves and robbers. To safeguard their most valuable treasures, they would hide them in jars of clay—earthen vessels—placing them in plain sight. A thief or robber would never think to look there because it wasn’t an obvious hiding place. Likewise, God has placed something valuable inside of you—a treasure of great worth. Yet, people often fail to see it. You may be right in front of them, but they don’t recognize your gifts, skills, talents, anointing, abilities, or sensitivities. You are hidden in plain sight bec...
