The Kingdom Is a System: Understanding John 18:36 and Living in Divine Alignment
"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence." – John 18:36 (KJV)
When Jesus spoke these words to Pilate, He revealed that His Kingdom operates as a distinct system, entirely separate from the systems of this world. The Kingdom is not merely a place or a future destination, it is a complete way of being, seeing, thinking, speaking, and behaving, with God as the governing authority.
In contrast, the world system functions by excluding God from its operations. The church system serves as a transitional structure, often containing elements of both the world and the Kingdom. Yet the Kingdom and the world remain incompatible in their foundational principles and practices.
Life Is Governed by Systems
Life itself consists of systems. The human body functions through interconnected systems. Families, households, friendships, ministries, businesses, educational institutions, governments, ecosystems, and even daily routines all operate as systems. Awareness of these systems allows us to understand how they shape experiences and outcomes.
Three primary systems influence life on earth:
The world system — a pattern of thoughts, words, and actions that leaves God out.
The church system — a mixture that assists people in transitioning from the world toward the Kingdom.
The Kingdom system — a theocratic order centered entirely on God, producing health, harmony in relationships, and true abundance when its principles are applied.
What Defines a System?
Firstly, a system is a set. It is a collection of two or more people, places, or things. Nothing operates in isolation. Scripture affirms this truth: when two agree on earth concerning anything, it shall be done; and where two or three gather in His name, Christ is present in the midst. A functioning set forms the foundation of any system.
Secondly, a system is a set that works together. Its parts cooperate rather than conflict. When alignment exists, harmony prevails. This reflects the promise that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to divine purpose. Life becomes effective when its elements are properly ordered.
Thirdly, a system produces a specific result. The outcome reveals whether the system functions correctly. The Kingdom system yields health, harmonious relationships, and abundance. Jesus demonstrated this principle when He declared that violence and retaliation belong to the world’s system not His Kingdom.
Living in Kingdom Alignment
Therefore, align your thoughts, words, and actions fully with the Kingdom system. Release patterns rooted in the world or misapplied from religious tradition that do not belong in this higher order. Choose the Kingdom completely, bringing every aspect of perception, speech, and behavior into harmony with its principles.
In daily practice, examine the systems you participate in. Identify their component parts. Ensure they work together. Clearly define the intended result. Write the vision plainly so every element aligns toward the desired outcome.
Conclusion
The Kingdom is a system not merely a place or future hope, but a present and active way of living where God reigns supreme. When thoughts, words, and actions align with this divine order, life becomes a testimony that everything works together for the highest good.
Every system in your life can reflect divine order, producing health, harmony, and abundance. Affirm daily: My life is a system that works. All things in my life work together for my good because I am aligned with the Kingdom of God. May this truth guide every step, bringing greater clarity, peace, and fulfillment. Amen.
