Stop the Thief: Guarding Your Time, Talents, and Treasure

"Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in another way is a thief and a robber. But the one who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him, the gatekeeper opens the gate, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out." – John 10:1–3 (KSB)

This passage powerfully illustrates Jesus as the true Shepherd and reminds us of the importance of recognizing legitimate leadership and protection from false influences. The metaphor of a thief represents distractions and forces that steal from our lives particularly our time, talents, and treasure hindering us from living fully in God’s purpose.

Firstly, consider the thief that steals your time. Time is a precious gift given equally to all, yet how it is used greatly affects our growth and fulfillment. Being mindful of time means actively stopping time-wasters such as procrastination, unproductive habits, or toxic influences. Valuing time means honoring each day as “the day the Lord has made” and using it intentionally to align with purpose, growth, and service.

Secondly, consider the thief that steals your talents. Each person is endowed with unique gifts and abilities by the Divine, and it is vital to recognize, develop, and express these talents fully. Allowing limiting beliefs, negative comparisons, or self-doubt to diminish your talents is to let a thief rob you of your potential. Embracing your giftedness empowers you to serve others and manifest abundance in diverse ways.

Thirdly, consider the thief that steals your treasure, your financial and material resources. Being conscious of how money flows in and out of your life through budgeting, accountability, and intentional giving ensures that your treasure is handled wisely. When you give the first fruits of your income as a practice of gratitude and trust in Divine provision, it discourages the thief from mismanaging what you have been blessed with.

Ultimately, the call is to stop these thieves by cultivating awareness of how your time, talents, and treasure are stewarded. This means nurturing thoughts, words, and actions that align with the highest and best purposes for your life. When you live with conscience and integrity in these areas, you embody the Shepherd’s voice, leading yourself and others to abundant life and spiritual fulfillment.

May this reflection inspire you to protect what has been entrusted to you and to walk as a faithful steward of all that nourishes your soul and furthers your growth.

📖 Reflection: What areas of your life have you allowed the “thief” to steal from—your time, talents, or treasure?

💡 Action Step: Identify one practical way this week to protect and wisely steward what God has entrusted to you.

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   Galatians 5:6 (KSB)    With everything going on around us, it's easy to feel lost. Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self? If you don’t know what you stand on, what can you stand up on after a fall?    Clarity of purpose keeps you ...

Universe Means One Thing: Love

Universe Means One Thing: Love "For all the law is fulfilled in this one word, love: Love your neighbor as yourself."   Galatians 5:14 (KSB)    Sometimes, the word “universe” can feel mysterious even spooky to some. Others think it's irreverent or sacrilegious when used in spiritual conversations. But what if we redefined it? What if “universe” simply meant love? What if it meant God, since God is love?  When we say, “the universe,” we can think of it as pointing to one word love. Just one word. The entire Bible, composed of 66 books and written by over 40 different authors, ultimately speaks to one central theme: love. From beginning to end, this divine book points us toward loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others.  In the Old Testament, God's people had 636 laws civil, ceremonial, and moral. They guided everything from relationships to religious festivals. But then Jesus came and said, “Let me make this simple Love God. Love yourself. L...
Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization?
