3 Effective Ways to Close a Prayer (Matthew 6:13)

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." – Matthew 6:13

How we end our prayers is just as important as how we begin them. The conclusion of a prayer carries spiritual weight; it seals our words of faith and releases them with assurance into the hands of God. Jesus’ model of prayer in Matthew 6:13 reminds us that prayer is both communication and declaration: a conversation with God and a proclamation of trust in His power to deliver and protect.

Firstly, close with “Amen.” Saying Amen is not a casual ending it is an affirmation of agreement and belief. When we say “Amen” consciously, we declare, “It is true,” aligning our spirit with the truth of God’s promises. As Scripture says, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32). Every “Amen” seals the prayer with faith and freedom.

Secondly, close with “Asha.” Originating from the Yoruba tradition in Nigeria, Asha (pronounced ah-shah) signifies the power to manifest what has been spoken. Saying “Asha” acknowledges that the prayer carries creative force, it affirms that the words spoken are not empty but will produce divine results. It is a declaration that faith is active and fruitful.

Thirdly, close with “It is so,” “So it is,” or “Let it be.” These affirmations embody the assurance of answered prayer. When we say “It is so,” we align our hearts with the finished work of God, believing that what we have prayed for is already accomplished in the spiritual realm and will manifest in due time.

Whether you end your prayer with “Amen,” “Asha,” or “It is so,” the key is conscious agreement with the power and presence of God. Each phrase releases faith into motion, affirming that your prayer has been heard, received, and set into divine action.

📖 Reflection: Which word or phrase feels most meaningful for you when ending your prayers—Amen, Asha, or It is so? What does it remind you about the power of faith-filled speech?

💡 Action Step: As you pray this week, close each prayer with intentional awareness. Speak your closing word as a declaration of faith and gratitude.

Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self? If you don’t know what you stand on, what can you stand up on after a fall?    Clarity of purpose keeps you ...

There’s a Grace on Your Life

There’s a Grace on Your Life "By grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."    Ephesians 2:8 (KSB)    In Ephesians chapter 2, one word stands out repeatedly: grace . But what is grace? Grace is God’s unmerited favor, His love poured out on us, not based on anything we've done or failed to do. It’s not about what we think or don’t think. It’s simply a gift. A beautiful, divine surprise.  Imagine receiving an unexpected bonus at work, you did your job, and suddenly you're given more than you earned. That’s grace. It comes when you least expect it and fills you with joy and wonder. This is how God extends His grace freely, abundantly, and lovingly.  Throughout Ephesians 2, Paul highlights how grace is woven into our salvation. “By grace you are saved” means you didn’t do it yourself. Salvation is the awakening in your spirit to the truth that  you are God's beloved .   ...
