What Time Is It? Wake Up to God’s Call

Alarm clock and Bible symbolizing God’s wake-up call

What Time Is It? Wake Up to God’s Call (Ephesians 5:14)

"This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’"  Ephesians 5:14

What time is it? We all live in different time zones, but the question here isn’t about chronos, the ticking of the clock. Instead, it’s about Kairos, God’s appointed time in your life. The Apostle Paul, speaking to the church at Ephesus, declares: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” This is not just a call to open our eyes physically, but spiritually. Sometimes life sends us an alarm clock. That trial, tribulation, or heartache you are facing may feel irritating and frustrating, but it is designed to wake you up not destroy you. Just as a loud alarm pulls you out of deep sleep, life’s challenges are spiritual alarms calling you back to the truth of who you are in Christ: God’s beloved child, created in His image and likeness.

That health struggle? It’s an alarm clock reminding you that God’s healing is available. That financial difficulty? It’s an alarm clock pointing you toward God’s abundance and provision. That strained relationship? It’s an alarm clock awakening you to His peace, joy, and love. The alarm clock is not meant to crush you but to awaken you. Paul reminds us that the true wake-up call is salvation. Sadly, many believers are spiritually sleepwalking professing faith without knowing their true identity in Christ. They attend church, participate in worship, and even serve, yet they have not fully awakened to the reality that nothing can separate them from the love of God. When your spirit bears witness with the Spirit of God that you are His child, that is when you are truly awake.

But waking up is only the beginning. We are also called to stay woke. This means cultivating spiritual practices that keep us alert and aligned with God’s truth prayer, meditation, journaling, scripture study, affirmations, and serving others. These disciplines keep our hearts awake to God’s presence and remind us that all things work together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Staying awake also means recognizing God’s hand even in difficult situations. What the enemy intended for evil, God transforms for your good. When we give our time, talents, and treasure, when we serve our communities, when we share the gospel, these are ways we remain spiritually alert and responsive to God’s call.

So, what time is it in your life? Is it the time of the alarm clock where God is using challenges to wake you up? Is it the wake-up of salvation where you finally realize who you are in Christ? Or is it the time to stay woke living in the light of sanctification?

Alarm Clock – Situation

Wake Up – Salvation

Stay Woke – Sanctification

📖 Reflection: What “alarm clocks” has God placed in your life, and how is He using them to awaken you to His truth?

💡 Action Step: Take time this week to reflect on one challenge you’re facing. Ask God to reveal how He is using it to wake you up to His presence and purpose.

Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? There’s a Grace on Your Life

There’s a Grace on Your Life "By grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."    Ephesians 2:8 (KSB)    In Ephesians chapter 2, one word stands out repeatedly: grace . But what is grace? Grace is God’s unmerited favor, His love poured out on us, not based on anything we've done or failed to do. It’s not about what we think or don’t think. It’s simply a gift. A beautiful, divine surprise.  Imagine receiving an unexpected bonus at work, you did your job, and suddenly you're given more than you earned. That’s grace. It comes when you least expect it and fills you with joy and wonder. This is how God extends His grace freely, abundantly, and lovingly.  Throughout Ephesians 2, Paul highlights how grace is woven into our salvation. “By grace you are saved” means you didn’t do it yourself. Salvation is the awakening in your spirit to the truth that  you are God's beloved .   ...

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance because we were predestined according to the purpose of God, who works all things after the counsel of Divine Will."  Ephesians 1:11    Affirmation: My health is optimal because it’s God’s will that all of my relationships are harmonious.                                                    Ephesians 1:11 reminds us that we have obtained an inheritance through Christ. If earthly parents and grandparents can leave behind an inheritance of tangible and intangible value land, homes, recipes, wisdom, or even prayer, how much greater is the inheritance from our heavenly Father?  An inheritance implies that someone thought of you before their passing, made intentional plans, and had a desire for your future. Similarly,...
