Wisdom Is Knowing What to Do
"Bear each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ... Each one should carry their own load." Galatians 6:2, 5 (KSB)
God gives us wisdom. Wisdom is knowing what to do, and the truth is, sometimes we are not sure what that is especially when it comes to helping others or making major decisions. But the Bible gives us a promise: If anyone lacks wisdom, let them ask of God, who gives freely and without reproach. He will give you the clarity you need. Sometimes the answer comes when we stand still and listen for that still, small voice. Other times, we need to seek wise counsel from spiritual leaders, pray in the Spirit, or journal through our thoughts until direction becomes clear. God's wisdom shows us what is ours to do and what is not.
There is a divine difference between carrying, caring, and casting. Jesus reminds us, “Take My yoke upon you... for My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” What God calls you to carry, you are equipped to carry. It’s your divine assignment, infused with grace, strength, and supernatural energy. But not everything is yours to carry. Some things you are simply meant to care about—to offer temporary support. That may look like helping with rent or bills, offering a place to stay, or emotional support. These acts of caring should have clear start and end dates, or else they become burdensome. Without boundaries, we risk growing resentful, feeling used, or burnt out.
When a burden becomes too much, it's time to cast it onto the Lord. This isn’t abandonment, it’s obedience. After you’ve done your part, trust God to do what only He can do. Release the situation, the person, or the weight. As Scripture reminds us, “Cast all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you.” Some of us are carrying things we were only meant to care for and it’s time to cast them. Release what’s heavy, obsolete, or no longer part of your divine assignment. God is more than capable. Let Him take it from here.
Wisdom is knowing the difference:
- Carry: It’s mine to do.
- Care: I give temporary support.
- Cast: It’s too much for me, I give it to God.
Ask the Lord today: "God, show me what is mine to carry, what I am called to care for, and what I need to cast into Your hands."
📖 Reflection: What are you currently carrying that may actually be something you're meant to care about—or cast onto the Lord?
💡 Action Step: Take time today to pray, journal, or seek wise counsel about one situation you're unsure about. Ask God for wisdom to act accordingly.
