The Power of Consecration (Joshua 3:5)

New beginnings through consecration and obedience


"Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.’" – Joshua 3:5

   Consecration prepares people to receive miracles. Before the Israelites crossed the Jordan River on dry land just as they had once crossed the Red Sea Joshua instructed them to consecrate themselves. This act of preparation opened hearts and minds, positioning the people to witness the amazing things God was about to do.

   God is always ready to perform miracles, signs, and wonders. Consecration, however, aligns thoughts, words, and actions with divine purpose, creating spiritual readiness to receive what God desires to do in, through, and as His people.

   Firstly: More Than Food. Consecration goes far beyond abstaining from certain foods. It includes a conscious awareness of eating habits, what is eaten, when, where, and how much. While fasting is valuable, true consecration examines the whole life, including attitudes and activities.

   Scripture reminds us that the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Through consecration, thoughts elevate to higher consciousness, words affirm readiness, and actions reflect focus beyond physical hunger.

   Secondly: More Than Beverages. Consecration also surpasses avoiding beverages such as coffee, soda, or alcohol. It cultivates an attitude for the altitude God intends. Even when nothing is inherently wrong with prior choices, consecration shifts focus and sharpens spiritual awareness.

   As the people prepared to cross the Jordan, their attention centered on divine leading rather than ritual. Thoughts became focused, words declared preparation, and actions aligned with stepping into the next dimension of good.

   Thirdly: More Than Abstaining. Consecration exceeds abstaining from activities, it requires a transformation of mindset. Allowing the mind of Christ to shape all areas of life prepares people for amazing things in family, marriage, vocation, health, ministry, business, and creative pursuits such as writing books, songs, or poems.

   Consecration releases what is old and obsolete and empowers individuals to step into the Jordan of their lives, trusting that dry ground will appear. Thoughts are renewed, words prophesy greatness, and actions move forward in faith.

   Conclusion: Consecration equips people to experience mind-blowing blessings and cross into promised abundance. God prepares to do amazing things, exceedingly abundantly above all that can be asked or thought, according to the power at work within. Through consecration, lives become vessels of honor, set apart for divine use and empowered to step into wonders prepared for tomorrow.
