How to Communicate Love for God and Others This Christmas

Two people talking face to face, expressing meaningful communication

Communicate So You Can Have the Christmas You Desire and Deserve (2 John 1:12)

"I have much to write to you, but I do not desire to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete." – 2 John 1:12 (KSB)

Many people say they love God, yet their understanding of what it truly means to love God is often incomplete. Loving God goes far beyond religious rituals, rules, or ceremonies; it is a living, growing relationship grounded in genuine love. That love begins with God’s love for us, and our response to that love shapes how we express our devotion. The following principles offer clarity and practical ways to understand and demonstrate authentic love for God.

First, loving God means keeping God’s commandments. These commandments are not meant to burden us; when guided by the Spirit, they become simple and life-giving. Jesus summarized them into three essential instructions: love God, love yourself, and love others. Loving God involves caring for your body, the temple of the Holy Spirit and treating yourself and others with compassion, dignity, and respect. Every person is part of the universal spiritual family, and loving God requires honoring that connection. Loving God fully with heart, mind, intellect, and will is not optional; it is a divine commandment that shapes our lives.

Second, loving God is demonstrated by putting God first. God should not merely be a part of life but the center of it. Putting God first includes giving God the first moments of your day, offering your talents to uplift and support others, and dedicating the first portion of your financial blessings as a sign of gratitude. Prioritizing God through the three T’s—time, talent, and treasure reflects a sincere, intentional response to divine love.

Third, loving God means realizing your oneness with God. When Jesus said, “I and the Father are one,” He revealed a spiritual truth that applies to all of humanity. We are not separate from God; we share divine essence. God’s presence is as close as breath itself. Embracing this oneness brings healing, peace, joy, harmonious relationships, and abundance. Recognizing your unity with God strengthens your spiritual foundation and aligns you with divine qualities.

In conclusion, loving God is a lived reality expressed through obedience, priority, and awareness. It is seen in how we follow God’s commandments, how we place God at the center of our choices, and how we embrace our oneness with the Divine. This love is not merely spoken, it is demonstrated. When lived fully, it transforms our relationships, deepens our faith, and reflects God’s presence in every aspect of life.

   Communicating Love (2 John 1:12)

   1. Keep God’s commandments.

   2. Put God first.

   3. Realize your oneness with God.

📖 Reflection: Which of these three expressions of loving God is calling for your attention this season?

💡 Action Step: Take one intentional step today—whether prayer, service, or gratitude—that clearly communicates your love for God.

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   Galatians 5:6 (KSB)    With everything going on around us, it's easy to feel lost. Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self? If you don’t know what you stand on, what can you stand up on after a fall?    Clarity of purpose keeps you ...

Universe Means One Thing: Love

Universe Means One Thing: Love "For all the law is fulfilled in this one word, love: Love your neighbor as yourself."   Galatians 5:14 (KSB)    Sometimes, the word “universe” can feel mysterious even spooky to some. Others think it's irreverent or sacrilegious when used in spiritual conversations. But what if we redefined it? What if “universe” simply meant love? What if it meant God, since God is love?  When we say, “the universe,” we can think of it as pointing to one word love. Just one word. The entire Bible, composed of 66 books and written by over 40 different authors, ultimately speaks to one central theme: love. From beginning to end, this divine book points us toward loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others.  In the Old Testament, God's people had 636 laws civil, ceremonial, and moral. They guided everything from relationships to religious festivals. But then Jesus came and said, “Let me make this simple Love God. Love yourself. L...

Hidden Treasure: You Are a Vessel, Not Just an Instrument

I AM Not an Instrument. I AM a Vessel “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KSB) Hidden in Plain Sight The image that Paul presents in 2 Corinthians 4 is that of a treasure hidden within an earthen vessel. In the Old Testament, people didn’t have locks, alarm systems, or cameras to protect their valuables. Instead, their belongings were often left exposed, making them vulnerable to thieves and robbers. To safeguard their most valuable treasures, they would hide them in jars of clay—earthen vessels—placing them in plain sight. A thief or robber would never think to look there because it wasn’t an obvious hiding place. Likewise, God has placed something valuable inside of you—a treasure of great worth. Yet, people often fail to see it. You may be right in front of them, but they don’t recognize your gifts, skills, talents, anointing, abilities, or sensitivities. You are hidden in plain sight bec...
