Are You in the World, in the Church, or in the Kingdom

Are You in the World, in the Church, or in the Kingdom? (Matthew 16:18–19)

Cross shining in darkness, symbolizing leaving the world for the kingdom of God.

The church is not simply a place you can go to. The building, the edifice, the sanctuary those are physical structures. But the true church is spiritual. Many say, “Let’s go to church,” but a better way to say that is, “Let’s go to worship, service, or fellowship.” Why? Because we are the church. The church is the body of Christ worldwide, with Jesus as the head and us as the body.

Pulling Point One: The church is not just a place you go.

Pulling Point Two: The church is not simply an activity. Some say, “Let’s have church,” as if it were only an event or behavior. But church is deeper, it is a system, a way of life, and a form of God-centered government. It is a lifestyle of being, seeing, thinking, speaking, and behaving that includes God. The church is not just something you do; the church is something you are.

Scripture shows us that there are three systems operating in the earth: the world, the church, and the kingdom. The world is a system that excludes God a lifestyle of thinking and living apart from Him. The church is a system that includes God. And then there is the kingdom the system where God is the very center of everything.

"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven." – Matthew 16:18–19

When we hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, faith arises in us and brings us out of the world. The gospel reveals God’s love, grace, and mercy, drawing us into the church. But it doesn’t stop there. As we grow, we hear the gospel of the kingdom, the message Jesus Himself preached. The gospel of the kingdom moves us from simply being in the church to living fully in the kingdom, where God becomes the center of our lives.

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." – Matthew 6:33

Paul’s letters to the early church, such as in Thessalonica, reflect this journey. He wrote to believers who had left the world and entered the church, giving them spiritual disciplines prayer, fasting, scripture study, fellowship, witnessing, and stewardship. These disciplines build a strong foundation in the church. Yet Paul also pointed them toward the kingdom, where their relationship with God would deepen even further.

So, the question remains for us today: Where are you? Are you still in the world? Have you come into the church? Or are you living in the kingdom, where God is the center of your life?

📖 Reflection: What system are you living in today—the world, the church, or the kingdom? Where is God in your daily life?

💡 Action Step: Take time to reflect and pray. Ask God to move you beyond the world and beyond just the church into His kingdom, where He is the center of everything.

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   Galatians 5:6 (KSB)    With everything going on around us, it's easy to feel lost. Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self? If you don’t know what you stand on, what can you stand up on after a fall?    Clarity of purpose keeps you ...

Universe Means One Thing: Love

Universe Means One Thing: Love "For all the law is fulfilled in this one word, love: Love your neighbor as yourself."   Galatians 5:14 (KSB)    Sometimes, the word “universe” can feel mysterious even spooky to some. Others think it's irreverent or sacrilegious when used in spiritual conversations. But what if we redefined it? What if “universe” simply meant love? What if it meant God, since God is love?  When we say, “the universe,” we can think of it as pointing to one word love. Just one word. The entire Bible, composed of 66 books and written by over 40 different authors, ultimately speaks to one central theme: love. From beginning to end, this divine book points us toward loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others.  In the Old Testament, God's people had 636 laws civil, ceremonial, and moral. They guided everything from relationships to religious festivals. But then Jesus came and said, “Let me make this simple Love God. Love yourself. L...

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance because we were predestined according to the purpose of God, who works all things after the counsel of Divine Will."  Ephesians 1:11    Affirmation: My health is optimal because it’s God’s will that all of my relationships are harmonious.                                                    Ephesians 1:11 reminds us that we have obtained an inheritance through Christ. If earthly parents and grandparents can leave behind an inheritance of tangible and intangible value land, homes, recipes, wisdom, or even prayer, how much greater is the inheritance from our heavenly Father?  An inheritance implies that someone thought of you before their passing, made intentional plans, and had a desire for your future. Similarly,...
