What Time Is It? Wake Up and Stay Spiritually Awake

Alarm clock on Bible representing God’s word as a wake-up call.

What Time Is It? Waking Up to God’s Light (Ephesians 5:14)

"This is why it is said: 'Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.'" – Ephesians 5:14 (KSB)

What time is it? Around the world, we live in different time zones that determine the physical hour. But the question here is not about chronos time, the ticking of the clock. It’s about Kairos time, the divine moment. What time is it in your life? In Ephesians 5:14, Paul writes to the church of Ephesus: “Wake up, sleeper.” This call is more than a physical awakening; it’s a spiritual one. Some in his day even believed that sleep resembled death and waking resembled resurrection. Paul reminds us that when we wake up, Christ’s light shines in us and through us. So, what time is it for you? Maybe it’s time for an alarm clock moment. Trials, frustrations, and challenges in life can feel like loud, irritating alarms, but they are not meant to destroy you. They are designed to wake you up to who you truly are in God. That illness, relationship struggle, or financial stress may simply be God’s way of stirring you awake to health, peace, and abundance.

The truth that many are still spiritually sleepwalking. They may attend church, sing hymns, or even serve in ministry, yet still not know who they are in Christ. But when your spirit bears witness with the Spirit of God that you are His beloved child, then you are truly awake. You are not just saved; you are alive in His truth. Once you wake up, the next call is to stay woke. Staying spiritually awake means practicing the disciplines that keep you rooted in God’s truth. Prayer, meditation, scripture study, journaling, giving, serving, and living in love, these are all ways to remain alert to God’s presence and purpose. As Paul reminds us, even what others intend for harm, God works for our good. When we stay awake, we see God’s hand at work in every season.

So, what time is it in your life? Maybe:

  • Alarm Clock – The situation that shakes you awake
  • Wake-up – The moment of salvation
  • Stay Woke – The journey of sanctification

Whatever time it is for you today, remember this: God is calling you to wake up, rise up, and shine with His light.

📖 Reflection: What “alarm clock” situations in your life might God be using to wake you up to His truth?

💡 Action Step: Choose one daily practice prayer, journaling, scripture reading, or serving others to help you stay spiritually awake this week.

Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? There’s a Grace on Your Life

There’s a Grace on Your Life "By grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."    Ephesians 2:8 (KSB)    In Ephesians chapter 2, one word stands out repeatedly: grace . But what is grace? Grace is God’s unmerited favor, His love poured out on us, not based on anything we've done or failed to do. It’s not about what we think or don’t think. It’s simply a gift. A beautiful, divine surprise.  Imagine receiving an unexpected bonus at work, you did your job, and suddenly you're given more than you earned. That’s grace. It comes when you least expect it and fills you with joy and wonder. This is how God extends His grace freely, abundantly, and lovingly.  Throughout Ephesians 2, Paul highlights how grace is woven into our salvation. “By grace you are saved” means you didn’t do it yourself. Salvation is the awakening in your spirit to the truth that  you are God's beloved .   ...

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance because we were predestined according to the purpose of God, who works all things after the counsel of Divine Will."  Ephesians 1:11    Affirmation: My health is optimal because it’s God’s will that all of my relationships are harmonious.                                                    Ephesians 1:11 reminds us that we have obtained an inheritance through Christ. If earthly parents and grandparents can leave behind an inheritance of tangible and intangible value land, homes, recipes, wisdom, or even prayer, how much greater is the inheritance from our heavenly Father?  An inheritance implies that someone thought of you before their passing, made intentional plans, and had a desire for your future. Similarly,...
