Exceeding Expectations: Responding to God’s Ability Within Us

Our Response to God’s Ability

"Now to God who is able to do exceedingly

abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us."
  Ephesians 3:20 (KSB)

Have you ever had a job evaluation where the outcome was “did not meet expectations,” “met expectations,” or “exceeded expectations”? Or maybe you’ve seen those same labels on a school assignment or report card. Often, it’s the ones who exceed expectations that receive the rewards, bonuses, scholarships, opportunities. I know life is full. Your plate is overflowing, your mind is spinning, and the demands on you feel relentless. You may feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and ready to throw in the towel. But what if I told you that your responsibility is simply your response to God’s ability in you, through you, and as you? When it comes to God, all things are possible. Ephesians 3:20 tells us that He can do far more than we could ever ask or imagine but it happens according to the power that works within us. The manifestation of God’s power in our lives depends on our willingness to respond in faith. You don’t have to carry it all alone. God promised, “I will never leave you; I will never forsake you. I will be with you always, even to the end of the earth."

"Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit," says the Lord of hosts. – Zechariah 4:6

So how are you responding to God’s ability in you? Are you saying yes to His will and His Word? Or are you doubting, questioning, and second-guessing your calling and capacity? You are not alone. God is the One who gives you the desire and the energy to fulfill His will. You and God are in partnership, a holy collaboration fueled by grace and trust.  Because I AM allowing God to work through me, I AM His vessel. I AM His ambassador. I AM saying yes to His power flowing in me, through me, and as me. I AM God’s responsibility and so I respond to His ability.

"It is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure." – Philippians 2:13

Declare today: I trust in the Lord with all my heart. I don’t lean on my own understanding. In all my ways, I acknowledge Him, and He directs my paths. God’s ability is working in you, but it’s your response that determines whether you exceed expectations not by striving, but by surrendering. Miracles, signs, and wonders come when we say, like Mary

"Be it unto me according to Your Word." – Luke 1:38

So, what are you responsible for today? Name one thing. Then release the pressure and let your response be rooted in the assurance of God's ability through you.

Our Responsibility (Ephesians 3:20)
1. Does not meet expectations
2. Meets expectations
3. Exceeds expectations

Your choice is not about your own strength, but your response to His strength. How will you respond today?

đŸ“– Reflection: What is one responsibility you are carrying right now that you need to surrender to God's ability within you?

đŸ’¡ Action Step: Write down a faith declaration today that reflects your trust in God’s ability to exceed expectations through you.

Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? So God can get the...
The Sacred Sunday Posture:  Kneeling “ A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees; if you are willing, you can make me clean (Mark 1:40).” In addition to bowing your heads and closing your eyes, many people learn to “get on your knees and pray.” Often, it’s at night before going to sleep. Parents instruct their children to kneel on the side of the bed and say their prayers. Perhaps you have fond memories of kneeling and reciting the Lord’s Prayer or the 23 rd Psalm. Or maybe you were taught, like me, “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake. I pray the Lord, my soul, to take. God bless mommy, daddy...” Kneeling is a physical way to revere God as your Creator and remember that God is your Source. “Know that it is the Lord, who is God. It is he that has made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3).” Without reverencing and ...

Where Is the Love? Learning to Recognize God's Presence Through Galatians 5

Where Is the Love?    One of my favorite duets is by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack: "Where Is the Love?" It asks, "Where is the love that you said you would give to me?" It's a timeless question and one that’s just as spiritually relevant today.    In Galatians 5 , Paul writes to the churches in Galatia about the contrast between the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. He helps believers understand how to discern what’s truly of God. And here's the spiritual compass: love is God's signature . "And envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."   Galatians 5:21 (KSB)    Whatever you do whether it’s cooking a meal or making a major decision ask yourself: "Where is the love?" Is love your motive? Is love present in your tone, your actions, your intentions?  Paul’s letter urges us to determine whether we are operati...
