How to Get Along with Anyone: Understanding People Through Spiritual Operating Systems

"In the past, you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the offspring of disobedience."  Ephesians 2:2 (KSB)

If you understand someone’s operating system, you’ll know how to get along with them. It’s not about changing people it's about recognizing how they function. Think of it like smartphones: Apple and Android are both phones, but they operate differently. You don’t expect an Apple to behave like an Android, or vice versa. Yet, once you understand how each system works, you can navigate both with ease. The same goes for people. Everyone has a unique way of being how they think, speak, see the world, and behave. That’s their operating system. And many of our conflicts come from expecting someone to function outside of how they’re wired. If we know someone’s “spiritual OS,” we can walk in understanding and peace.

Understanding differences in people using spiritual operating systems.

Spiritually, there are three main operating systems at play: the world, the church, and the Kingdom. Paul mentions in Ephesians 2:2 that we once walked "according to the course of this world." This world system is not the earth, but a spiritual system that deliberately excludes God. When someone is operating from the world system, they’re following a mindset that leaves God out. We cannot expect someone living from a world system to act like they’re in the church. They simply don’t have the same programming. That’s why God calls us from the world through the church and into the Kingdom. The church introduces God into your life; the Kingdom makes God central to it.

In the church system, God is included in your time, talents, and treasure. In the Kingdom system, God is first in all those things. Jesus said, "But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added." That’s a different operating system altogether. God is not a side note; He’s the center. You can get along with anyone on your job, in your family, in your community if you understand how they operate. Know their way of thinking, speaking, and behaving, and you’ll know how to engage them in wisdom and love. Stop expecting an Apple to act like an Android or a worldly mindset to act like the Kingdom. Recognize the system. Adapt with grace. Lead with love.

   What in the world?

   1. The world vs. the earth

   2. The world vs. the Church

   3. The world vs. the Kingdom

📖 Reflection: Who in your life have you misunderstood because you didn’t recognize their operating system?

💡 Action Step: Identify someone operating from a different system and intentionally show them grace and understanding this week.

Why Me? God’s Glory (Romans 8:18) Why? That's a question often in our Souls. Why is this happening to me? Why am I having this experience? Why am I facing this health challenge? There's an answer! Why am I having these relationship challenges? There’s an answer, and it’s the same one. Why am I having this financial challenge? There’s an answer! There’s an answer to every question in your Soul, and the answer is glory. The reason for every experience in your life is so that God can get the glory. The purpose of all our challenges is not to bring us down but to transform us and bring glory to God. Why am I having this test, this trial, this tribulation? So God can get the glory. Why am I experiencing this persecution, this headache, this pain? So, God can get the glory. Why am I witnessing this miracle, sign, or wonder? So, God can get the glory. Why am I having this challenge in my local assembly, in my ministry, in my business, and in my organization? There’s a Grace on Your Life

There’s a Grace on Your Life "By grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."    Ephesians 2:8 (KSB)    In Ephesians chapter 2, one word stands out repeatedly: grace . But what is grace? Grace is God’s unmerited favor, His love poured out on us, not based on anything we've done or failed to do. It’s not about what we think or don’t think. It’s simply a gift. A beautiful, divine surprise.  Imagine receiving an unexpected bonus at work, you did your job, and suddenly you're given more than you earned. That’s grace. It comes when you least expect it and fills you with joy and wonder. This is how God extends His grace freely, abundantly, and lovingly.  Throughout Ephesians 2, Paul highlights how grace is woven into our salvation. “By grace you are saved” means you didn’t do it yourself. Salvation is the awakening in your spirit to the truth that  you are God's beloved .   ...

Where Is the Love? Learning to Recognize God's Presence Through Galatians 5

Where Is the Love?    One of my favorite duets is by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack: "Where Is the Love?" It asks, "Where is the love that you said you would give to me?" It's a timeless question and one that’s just as spiritually relevant today.    In Galatians 5 , Paul writes to the churches in Galatia about the contrast between the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. He helps believers understand how to discern what’s truly of God. And here's the spiritual compass: love is God's signature . "And envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."   Galatians 5:21 (KSB)    Whatever you do whether it’s cooking a meal or making a major decision ask yourself: "Where is the love?" Is love your motive? Is love present in your tone, your actions, your intentions?  Paul’s letter urges us to determine whether we are operati...
