Are You Really Saved? (Philippians 2:12)

Pathway leading toward bright light representing the journey of salvation—past, present, and future.

Are You Really Saved? (Philippians 2:12)

"Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed not only in my presence but now much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." – Philippians 2:12 (NRSV)

Philippians 2:12 calls every believer into personal responsibility on the spiritual journey. Rather than viewing salvation as a single moment, Scripture reveals it as an ongoing process of growth, awakening, and divine partnership. The question, “Are you really saved?” invites reflection on salvation not only as a past event but also as a present experience and a future hope.

First: Justification — Yes, I was saved. This is the past dimension of salvation. Through the life, death, resurrection, and continual presence of Jesus Christ, the power of sin was broken and the illusion of separation dismantled. Justification places the believer in right relationship with God, free from guilt, fear, and condemnation. It establishes a foundation of grace, empowering each person to take responsibility for their thoughts, words, and actions without shame. The penalty and power of sin no longer control the believer’s life.

Second: Sanctification — Yes, I am being saved. This represents the present, ongoing work of spiritual transformation. Sanctification is a daily process of refinement releasing old patterns, forgiving past behaviors, and choosing thoughts and words that align with divine truth. It is not rooted in religious formality but in an expanding awareness of God within oneself and others. Sanctification is the moment-by-moment working out of salvation through conscious choices, spiritual maturity, and an ever-deepening Christlike character.

Third: Glorification — Yes, I will be saved. This future aspect of salvation anticipates the ultimate fulfillment of divine union. Glorification points to a time when all experiences of separation, limitation, or lower consciousness will pass away. It is the promise of complete freedom from the presence of sin and full participation in God’s eternal love, abundance, and glory. This is the destiny of every believer to be fully immersed in the perfection God intended from the beginning.

Together, these three stages reveal salvation as a dynamic and holistic journey: justified in the past, sanctified in the present, and glorified in the future. This understanding encourages believers to actively engage in their spiritual growth through thoughtful awareness, intentional speech, and aligned actions. Salvation becomes the unfolding recognition of true identity as God’s beloved offspring past, present, and future and a continual cooperation with the divine in shaping a life that reflects that truth.

📖 Reflection: Which area of salvation past, present, or future is God inviting you to become more aware of right now?

💡 Action Step: Choose one practice today prayer, confession, forgiveness, or meditation that aligns your heart with God's ongoing work of sanctification in your life.

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   Galatians 5:6 (KSB)    With everything going on around us, it's easy to feel lost. Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self? If you don’t know what you stand on, what can you stand up on after a fall?    Clarity of purpose keeps you ...

Universe Means One Thing: Love

Universe Means One Thing: Love "For all the law is fulfilled in this one word, love: Love your neighbor as yourself."   Galatians 5:14 (KSB)    Sometimes, the word “universe” can feel mysterious even spooky to some. Others think it's irreverent or sacrilegious when used in spiritual conversations. But what if we redefined it? What if “universe” simply meant love? What if it meant God, since God is love?  When we say, “the universe,” we can think of it as pointing to one word love. Just one word. The entire Bible, composed of 66 books and written by over 40 different authors, ultimately speaks to one central theme: love. From beginning to end, this divine book points us toward loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others.  In the Old Testament, God's people had 636 laws civil, ceremonial, and moral. They guided everything from relationships to religious festivals. But then Jesus came and said, “Let me make this simple Love God. Love yourself. L...

Hidden Treasure: You Are a Vessel, Not Just an Instrument

I AM Not an Instrument. I AM a Vessel “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KSB) Hidden in Plain Sight The image that Paul presents in 2 Corinthians 4 is that of a treasure hidden within an earthen vessel. In the Old Testament, people didn’t have locks, alarm systems, or cameras to protect their valuables. Instead, their belongings were often left exposed, making them vulnerable to thieves and robbers. To safeguard their most valuable treasures, they would hide them in jars of clay—earthen vessels—placing them in plain sight. A thief or robber would never think to look there because it wasn’t an obvious hiding place. Likewise, God has placed something valuable inside of you—a treasure of great worth. Yet, people often fail to see it. You may be right in front of them, but they don’t recognize your gifts, skills, talents, anointing, abilities, or sensitivities. You are hidden in plain sight bec...
