Kingdom Superlatives The Kingdom Key of Least & Greatest

Kingdom Superlatives The Kingdom Key of Least & Greatest

READ | Matthew 5:17-20

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:19).

Great, greater, and greatest are superlatives. Do you remember studying superlatives in elementary school? Did your high school have Senior Superlatives where the graduating class voted on who was the funniest or who was the most likely to succeed?

In the Kingdom, what makes us great is that the Great God, who is love, lives inside of us. The power of love inside of us is greater than anything outside of us. What makes us the greatest is our capacity to love all people no matter what. According to Jesus, our example of what it means to be fully human and fully divine, you are the greatest when you can bless those who curse you and do good to those who do evil to you. In the Kingdom, you are the greatest when you demonstrate your ability to love people who are different from you (Ephesians 3:14-19).

In the world, people are considered great because of their ability to speak before thousands of people with power and precision. The greater your vocabulary and the greater that you can pronounce words and enunciate the greater you are. In the Church, greatness is often associated with your spiritual gifts and ecclesiastical titles and positions. In the Kingdom, greatness is not just about our ability to share the word with others through our teaching and our preaching. Greatness is about our ability to live the lifestyle of love of which we speak. People who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk are least in the Kingdom.

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement

Refocus Your Faith: How to Overcome Distraction, Disappointment, and Discouragement "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."   Galatians 5:6 (KSB)    With everything going on around us, it's easy to feel lost. Distractions come quickly, disappointments pile up, and discouragement sneaks in. We all face these moments. But even when we get off track, there is a way back and that path is through our faith, principles, and core values.  When you live your life anchored in principles, it gives you a compass for when the road gets unclear. Knowing your vision, your mission, and your core values makes it easier to realign when life feels out of control. But if you don’t know who you are, how can you get back to being your best self? If you don’t know what you stand on, what can you stand up on after a fall?    Clarity of purpose keeps you ...

Universe Means One Thing: Love

Universe Means One Thing: Love "For all the law is fulfilled in this one word, love: Love your neighbor as yourself."   Galatians 5:14 (KSB)    Sometimes, the word “universe” can feel mysterious even spooky to some. Others think it's irreverent or sacrilegious when used in spiritual conversations. But what if we redefined it? What if “universe” simply meant love? What if it meant God, since God is love?  When we say, “the universe,” we can think of it as pointing to one word love. Just one word. The entire Bible, composed of 66 books and written by over 40 different authors, ultimately speaks to one central theme: love. From beginning to end, this divine book points us toward loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others.  In the Old Testament, God's people had 636 laws civil, ceremonial, and moral. They guided everything from relationships to religious festivals. But then Jesus came and said, “Let me make this simple Love God. Love yourself. L...

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance

You Are in God’s Will: How to Receive Your Divine Inheritance "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance because we were predestined according to the purpose of God, who works all things after the counsel of Divine Will."  Ephesians 1:11    Affirmation: My health is optimal because it’s God’s will that all of my relationships are harmonious.                                                    Ephesians 1:11 reminds us that we have obtained an inheritance through Christ. If earthly parents and grandparents can leave behind an inheritance of tangible and intangible value land, homes, recipes, wisdom, or even prayer, how much greater is the inheritance from our heavenly Father?  An inheritance implies that someone thought of you before their passing, made intentional plans, and had a desire for your future. Similarly,...
